...whew...
The day was going fairly well til he took off down the hall...I was on the couch nursing B and all of a sudden I hear screaming like I've never heard before! I jumped up and K is gimping around holding his right knee. I tell him he's Ok (he's on this "I hurt really bad til you tell me I'm ok" kick) and to run and get the ball for me (how I prove that he really is Ok). He runs and after 2 steps, he's on the floor, screaming. I say, "Keaton, come on bud, you're Ok!" He jumps back up and again, he is back on the floor screaming! He stands up to walk towards me and he's holding his knee and bawling....great...
I feel his knee...
He kicks me!
So, I call the pedi's office (JUST where I want to spend his birthday, ugh!) The nurse is all telling me to go to the ER for x-rays. I ignore her and call my chiro, but she's pretty much done for the day, so I call back and make an appt. at the pedi's office.
He finally calms down to take a nap. When he woke up, I tried feeling his legs to see if anything seemed out of place. He allowed me to touch his legs this time. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary so I just keep reminding him that he needs to sit and play and not be on his leg.
After about 45 minutes, he starts running around like a normal kid...I asked him if his knee hurt and he doubled over as if someone were cutting his leg off! So I stopped asking and he just kept playing.
I ended up calling and canceling the appointment, because who really wants to spend their 2nd birthday in the pedi's office?! I'm going to keep an eye on him and follow up with our chiro in the next day or two...
So...
We went to Mellow Mushroom for pizza tonight to celebrate! Their pizza is the best! We're so excited that they finally opened one close to us! He got a yummy cinnamon pretzel pizza for dessert!

Monday with the boys
Keaton has been talking shapes lately (but don't ask him to say "Shape"...that's not what it sounds like...yikes!) He's got "ti-angle", "circ-ul" and "quare" ...he occasionally says "tar" (star) and even once blurted out "die-ond" (diamond...no one named "Ond" needs to fear for their life!)
Also, B has been running a low-grade fever all weekend. Been abnormally fussy (for his 'normal' self...totally normal for his new found separation anxiety self, haha!) Last night, we had a really rough night. Zach suggested I take him in, after reminding me that the last time he had an ear infection, 1) we had no idea and 2) it was so bad by the time we got him in. We're hoping to avoid that this time. His appointment is at 930 this morning.

Just a cute story to start your Monday...
Keaton has always loved saying "Ready? GO!" But last night, at small group, he finally got the middle part to it...granted it was while jumping down the steps! haha!!
"READY SET GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Of course, that was one of the first thing we heard this morning...
Atleast someone is ready for Monday!

23 Months (and a day!)
I didn't get to this yesterday...we're still fighting the crud! Zach has it now! ugh...I can tel it is indeed on it's way out though! Finally!
1 more month and my sweet baby will be 2!!!!!! I can not believe it!
I've been making a list of all of Keaton's words to take to his 2 year appointment. I sent them to Zach's mom (she's a speech pathologist) and she was very impressed with his vocab. He's a chatter box, but most of it is in Keatonese :) I'll post the official list when we have his appointment.
He has really been into animal sounds lately, particularly chickens/roosters! He walks around "Er er errrrrr"ing all day, haha!
He loves (always has, but especially as of late) helping me in the kitchen, with laundry & of course taking care of B. (putting bottles in the sink, getting burp cloths, handing me diapers, etc...)
B is definitely his favorite toy! I love watching them interact - these boys are hysterical!
He loves "reading" to me, but will sit for book after book after book if I'm reading.
He's wearing 2 & 3T clothing.
We're planning & getting ready for his party! And that's about it!
Happy 23 months & a day, bud!

Kilo??
For a couple weeks now, Keaton has been saying, "Lo" ...he wouldn't show me what 'Lo' meant and I have been having the hardest time figuring it out.
On Monday, I thought it might mean color. I handed him his crayons and some paper and he sat at his table and colored for about an hour!
On Wednesday, he started saying "Kilo"...what??
Thursday erupted into an episode of him SCREAMING "kilo" at me. I had NO earthly idea what he was talking about! I kept telling him to show me, but he wouldn't. When I was making his lunch, he came running in the kitchen and screamed, "KILO!!" I sat on the floor and said, "Sweet Pea, I have no idea what kilo is. I need you to show me because I don't understand." He was almost in tears and kept saying "kilo ....kilo...kilo..." I felt just as frustrated as he did because I knew this had to be something important!
After 5 minutes of "kiiiiiiloooooooo" and tears, Keaton pointed to the refrigerator and screamed, "KIIIIILOOOOOO"...I looked and he was pointing to this....
He first pointed to "Keaton" and screamed at me, "KI" and then pointed to his coloring and said, "LO!" and then repeated - KI- LO....Ki-LO!!!!!!!!!!!!...Got it...Keaton...color.... :) He colored after lunch :)
Also - Congrats to Alicia who guessed correctly....
So as promised - Alicia has a super fun Etsy shop - The Purple Shamrock filled with beautiful photographs she has taken! My favorite has to be this amazing sunflower! Alicia and I were room mates at Mars Hill College, my sophomore year. We traveled together to her home of GA and visited Stone Mountain and met Mac Powell from Third Day. I have a picture of a lady from the concert standing infront of us signing to a song, however it looks like her thumb is stuck up her nose because of the angle. Alicia and I sat in front of our TVs on September 11 (after I woke her up by turning on the TV to see what was going on) and watched the news coverage. We went to the Red Cross that day to give blood, but they were 'full' - we never went back (hahaha) We organized a candle light vigil on campus that week (I can't remember if it was that day or the next)...and then swam in the fountain on campus! She graciously hosted a beautiful baby shower for us when I was pregnant with Keaton. We came with an empty car and left barely able to close the trunk thanks to her (her husbands job at Target!) and other amazing friends from Mars Hill!

My Growing Boys!
Well, B (finally) did it! ...and we missed it! We were frantically running around getting ready for church, he was on the floor on his back on his play mat. I turned around to grab something, Zach looked away to put on his sweater...we both looked at B at the same time and I screamed, "Did you do that?!" He was on his belly! He's just laying there, propped up on his arms, looking all around with this, "WHAT just happened?!" look! He didn't do it again today, but he now knows how...and the excitement is about to begin...
Tooth #2 is making it's entrance. I take back anything I've blogged, said to friends in person or on Facebook - he is not a 'great' teether. NOT as bad as his brother, but I think the pain of it all is finally hitting him. Naps have been few and far between the past 2 days, last night was a pretty bad night (I can't complain because it was nothing like VA Christmas or HFM)
Keaton has expanded his vocab some more: "stuck" (which he exclaims whenever he sits in the Bumbo...He has to sit in it or it gets no use...I can't get B out by myself...chunkster!) and "Q" (I got him a magnetic alphabet set and he was holding the Q, Zach told him what letter it was and for an hour, all we heard was 'Q')
This morning, he woke up and this is what I heard after a moment or so of fussing...
"Hey! Mama....Dada....B? Hey! Where is? Ok...oh no! One....no...no....GO GO GO GO GO!!!!! ::more fussing:: Mama?? bye!"
haha, I LOVE it! Of course it was screaming after that, but it was cute while it lasted! :)

In grown-up excitement...We bought a Wii!!! We are slowly catching up with the rest of the world! ;-) We have been playing WiiMusic, WiiSports and WiiPlay since Friday night! I have since found out that I'm addicted to golf games!! And I'm not all that bad! I've been told that if I want WiiFit, I have to buy it myself...but I'm thinking about getting a kettlebell to work out with instead for now...
That's about it for now...

Our weekend
I feel like it has just flown by! I'm not even sure what all happened, except we just stuffed ourselves with my chili. We pretty much finished Christmas shopping. I swear, next year, we will NOT wait this long. It's driving me batty!
Keaton said some new words this weekend...
"gotcha" :)
Unfortunately, I can't remember the rest right now :)
Benjamin is super close to rolling over! I have to stop cheering when he's so close, it keeps scaring him (OK, I'm getting excited and ok with this milestone!)
This week, we will finish up Christmas shopping, have Benjamin's 4 month appointment (see below) and we'll head to VA for a quick, Christmas celebration on Friday. whew.
Picture Time!
Not sure what was above him as the tree is only a couple inches taller than he is, but I love the look of amazement :)

"Oo-OO"
says the monkey. And in our case, our little Monkey :) Keaton has started making a monkey noise whenever we see a monkey (note: Monkey's are not often seen in this part of NC, merely in books and on toys) :)
He's expanding his vocab everyday. I'm simply amazed at what all he can "say" (I have to translate most of his words...but the fact that he's associating the same sound, usually the correct sounds, with an object or idea, is awesome). His favorite word is still "No" :) His newest is "Bah" for bath.
He has started signing milk (one that I never showed him, except in his sign language book!) in addition to more, eat, done/finished, light (sometimes), drink (sometimes), hi/bye (haha), and it seemed like there was another one, but I can't remember right now.
Benjamin had his vaccination visit today (we're spreading out his shots so he doesn't get a ton in one visit. It means more trips in, but, I feel better about it this way - I'll write more on this later) He just got one and took it like a champion :)
I was also curious as to his weight because he is wearing 6-9 month clothing (Not entirely, but some things, depending on the fit)... My little chunk at 3 months and 6 days weighs in at.......
16lbs. 1oz.!!! This is "nearly off the charts" (97%) for his age. (K weighed 16lbs. at 4 months) Unbelievable!
I want to apologize for not posting a lot of pictures recently. I've been taking them, but when ever I upload them to Blogger, they post all weird and if I try to caption them, they go out of order...I'm not stupid but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong!! It's RATHER frustrating and I keep meaning to shoot someone an email at Blogger, but...I keep putting it on the back burner...along with calling PlaytexBaby about sending me a new pump since mine died :( going to our old apartment and visiting the Hahns and Macks!!!!...and about 18 other things!!
